REMOVAL PROCESS...

For A General List of Riggers/Movers/Carriers, Click Here

Buyers are responsible for:

  1. removing assets from their current location before the "removal deadline" stated in the sale's terms and conditions,
  2. packing, crating, or dismantling items, and
  3. loading, shipping or transporting assets to their new location.

Picking-up and removing equipment yourself:

  1. Pay for your equipment in full.
  2. Receive a “paid in-full invoice".
  3. If an appointment is necessary, make a removal appointment with the removal contact AFTER you have paid in full.
  4. If no appointment is necessary, confirm the asset location & removal schedule and go to the specified location to pick-up the assets.
  5. Present your paid invoice to Comly's on-site personnel.
  6. Find and gather your assets and remove them from the premises.

Using a third-party vendor to pick-up and remove equipment for you:

  1. Contract with a vendor for the services you need.
  2. Determine who and how the assets will be shipped (we recommend that you insure all shipments)
  3. Pay for your equipment in full.
  4. Receive a "paid-in-full invoice"
  5. Fax or email a copy of the "paid-in-full invoice" to the vendor
  6. If an appointment is necessary, confirm the vendor has made a removal appointment with the  removal contact.
  7. Have the vendor present your invoice to Comly's on-site personnel.

Buyers may either pick-up the assets themselves or contract with a third party to arrange for asset removal, packing, rigging, or shipping.

How to get a price quote
To obtain a price quote, contact a vendor directly. You may choose someone from our list of vendors or you may decide to choose someone from the yellow pages, etc.

You should expect to provide them with the following information:

  1. The name/ date of the auction and location of the asset(s)
  2. A description of the assets
  3. A ship-to address

We recommend that you insure all shipments.

How To Determine What Service (If Any) You May Need...

Packing & Crating
Most assets purchased at an auction need to be prepared before they can be safely shipped. Fragile equipment should be foam-packed or protected in bubble-wrap. If you purchase multiple assets, they may be able to be consolidated into one box or crate before shipping. Since most carriers (see below) will not accept loose or unpackaged freight, this is typically the first step in an item's shipping process. Once items are packed, they need to be prepared (forms completed) and handed to the carrier of choice.

Rigging
Large, complicated machinery may need to be disconnected, disassembled, staged and loaded onto a truck. Riggers (machinery movers) can provide these services and may also be helpful in documenting the dismantling process and labeling connections in order to make set up and reconfiguration more efficient on the receiving end.

Movers
These are companies/ individuals who hand pack and load your assets into a padded van or truck and transport them to a specified location. They offer the same services as residential and commercial movers. Typically, this is the safest and most reliable way to move assets that do not require rigging.

Common Carriers
These are the transportation companies. Examples include Fedex, UPS, Airborne Express, and DHL. Once assets are packaged, they need to be prepared for the carrier of choice: forms filled out, pickup appointment scheduled, and physically delivered to the carrier’s truck.

International Transportation
Land, air, or ocean container transportation across international borders usually involves the additional complexities of specially prepared documents, which enable goods to pass customs checkpoints without penalties or delays.

Where are my assets? They never arrived.
Once Comly has released the equipment to the buyer-approved service provider,  Comly is no longer involved. Claims made after the equipment is released and signed-for should be made to the service provider or the carrier directly.

What if something is wrong with the equipment I purchased?
Equipment offered through a Comly auction is sold on an "as is", "where is" basis "with all faults" and without representations or warranties of any kind whatsoever. For this reason, your pre-sale inspection is critical and you should perform whatever due diligence you believe is necessary prior to participating in an auction. Once you are a successful bidder, you are obligated to complete your purchase of the subject equipment by paying in full and removing the goods within the specified time. If you are using a vendor, take the time to explain to them what you expect, what they should look for, and to call you if there are any questions about the equipment. During checkout, you or the vendor should physically inspect the equipment to confirm that it is what you purchased.   Please remember, positively no refunds or credits for shortages or claims will be considered after the goods have left the premises.

RIGGERS, MOVERS, CARRIERS...

In some instances we will provide a list of riggers available for a particular sale.  This list is available on the sale’s details page for that sale.

Removal and rigging is at the purchaser’s own expense, risk and liability.  A certificate of insurance for $1,000,000.00 naming  Wm. F. Comly & Son, Inc. (Comly Auctioneers & Appraisers) and Seller as additional insured entities must be presented to the Auction Company for all heavy rigging requiring the use of forklifts, cranes, etc., whether performed by the customer or a rigging company. The auctioneer has the right to reduce or eliminate these requirements at his sole discretion
